What is Podcasting?
Podcasting is a method of publishing files to the Internet, allowing users to subscribe to a feed and receive new files automatically by subscription.
How do I subscribe to the Podcast?
You will need to download and install Podcast subscription software to your computer or app to your mobile device. Then copy and paste the URL for your podcast into the software or app. We recommend using iTunes on your computer for your Podcasts. iOS now has a separate app called Podcasts for your iOS devices such as iPhones or iPads. Android has several options that we list below.
Setting up your Podcast in iTunes
1. Download iTunes to your computer (PC or Mac).
2. Install iTunes on your computer.
3. Once installed, open the iTunes player.
4. In the iTunes Store, search for JeffDantzler.tv.
5. Click on Audible Graffiti. Click on the Subscribe button to have it automatically download new episodes as they become available.
If you’re still having trouble, open iTunes and add the feed manually:
1. Highlight the feed URL above and copy the text
2. Then go to iTunes under File and select “Subscribe to Podcast”.
3. In the URL prompt box, paste the feed URL you copied above
5. Hit OK and you have successfully subscribed to your Podcast.
What is the advantage of Podcasting?
Subscribing to the Podcast allows you to listen to the program during the time and at a place most convenient for you. Streaming a podcast may prove difficult because you have to be at your computer or relying on a wifi or cellular data network to listen to the program. Subscribing to a podcast means you can listen to the program without a network, including in your car, on the bus, on the train, or even at your office (system administrators sometimes restrict streaming audio because it eats up bandwidth).
Do I need iTunes or an iOS device to Podcast?
No, you do not need an iOS device or even use iTunes to listen to a Podcast. All of the podcast files are encoded as mp3 files, the most universal format for listening on various devices. You can listen to each podcast using almost any computer application: iTunes, Windows Media Player, Real Audio Player, WinAmp, and many others. If you like, you can even burn the files to a CD so you can listen using an old fashioned CD player in your car or at home on your stereo. You can also transfer these files to a traditional mp3 or portable media device like an iPod.
Does Android have a Podcasting app?
Yes, none are quite as ubiquitous as iTunes on iOS (iOS now has a separate app called Podcasts), but several Android choices include: Pocket Casts, BeyondPod, Podcast Addict, Dogcatcher, Player FM and Stitcher for Podcasts.
Are there any other choices?
Yes, Audible Graffiti is also available on both TuneIn Radio and on Soundcloud. Both have apps available on both iOS and Android, however subscribing in the traditional podcast sense of automatically downloading episodes when they become available is not an option. You can subscribe or perhaps more accurately “follow” the podcast with these apps, and see and stream new episodes when they become available.
